Date: 16 June 2017. 17:00 – 18:30
Venue: Room 3.15, 18 Buccleuch Place
We will be showing two short documentary films.
The Border is a film made by Irish activist Caoimhe Butterly, which traces the lives of refugees on the move in Greece. It was awarded the grand prize of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties and Human Rights Film Award.
Wallah je te jure is a film released last year by the IOM. It seeks to highlight the perils of the journey undertaken by many West Africans as they pass through Niger and Libya on the way to Europe.
Joining us to discuss the films will be Nur Abdelkhaliq Zamora, who previously worked at the University as well as for the IOM in Libya. She is now a consultant in the field of migration and refugee policy.
As ever, there will be a selection of refreshments and snacks/pizza for your enjoyment 😊
For those who would like to continue the discussion following the films (finishing around 6:30, we may adjourn to a local pub afterwards.
