25 May 2016. Film screening ‘The Folk Song on the Plain’

Time: 5:30pm

Venue: 18 Buccleuch Place, 3F2, Edinburgh

The Folk Song on the Plain [link] is a documentary film about trafficking in women in China from the perspective of one woman sold into marriage in rural Shandong, very far from her home town in China’s southwest. It is made by Hu Jie, one of China’s most prominent independent documentary film makers. Here is a recent interview with the filmmaker.

Again, we will provide drinks and food. We’ll show the film and then have a discussion about it afterwards. All welcome!
